Decades of dedication recognised at Hunstanton RNLI

Three familiar faces at Hunstanton Lifeboat Station have been recognised for their years of voluntary service, with one crew member celebrating an impressive 30 years helping to save lives at sea.

It was a proud morning for the Hunstanton RNLI team as the High Sheriff of Norfolk High Jonathan Charles Pearson the lifeboat station to meet volunteers, tour the facilities and present long service awards.

Among those honoured was Lee Torrice, who received recognition for an outstanding 30 years of service with the RNLI.

Fellow volunteers Roger Smith and Ryan Darby were also presented with awards marking 10 years of dedication each.

The presentations took place before the crew headed out on one of their regular training launches, offering the High Sheriff a glimpse into the commitment and preparation involved in keeping the lifeboat service ready for emergencies.

A special thank you to local volunteers

For Hunstanton and the surrounding coastal communities, the lifeboat station is a familiar and reassuring presence, with volunteers ready to respond when someone gets into difficulty on the water.

Behind every launch are crew members who give up their own time for training, maintaining equipment and responding to emergency calls, often leaving behind family commitments or their everyday jobs.

The three awards recognise a combined 50 years of service, representing countless hours of training, teamwork and dedication to the local community.

Hunstanton RNLI said it was incredibly proud of its volunteers and the commitment they continue to show, whatever the weather and whatever the time of day.

The station also thanked the High Sheriff for visiting and taking the time to personally present the awards.

For Lee, Roger and Ryan, the recognition was a fitting acknowledgement of their years supporting one of the area's most valued emergency services.

And while the medals and pins mark an important milestone, it is the willingness to turn out whenever help is needed that makes Hunstanton's volunteer lifeboat crew so special to our coastal community.
