Searles Leisure Resort has been awarded the prestigious AA Five Star Platinum Award for 2026/27, moving up from Gold last year and placing it among the very best holiday parks in the AA’s five-star category.
It’s a welcome achievement for the family-owned business, which has been part of Hunstanton’s holiday scene since 1954.
From caravan pitches to an award-winning resort
Searles began life offering caravan pitches to holidaymakers visiting the Norfolk coast. Over the decades, it has grown into a popular family resort, welcoming generations of visitors who return to Hunstanton year after year.
Today, the resort offers a wide range of holiday accommodation, touring and camping facilities, along with privately owned holiday homes.
For many families, a stay at Searles has become something of a tradition, with parents who once visited as children now bringing their own youngsters to enjoy holidays by the sea.
The latest award recognises the quality and range of services and facilities provided at the resort, with the AA assessing parks against its five-star standards.
A proud moment for the team
Jo Searle, Finance Director at Searles Leisure Resort, said the award was particularly special because of the people who have helped build the resort’s reputation over the years.
“We’re delighted to receive Platinum this year. Searles has been part of Hunstanton for generations, and this is a lovely moment for the team who help make it such a welcoming place.”
She also paid tribute to the many visitors and holiday home owners who continue to support the family business.
“We’d also like to thank our guests and holiday home owners. So many people return year after year, and it means a great deal that they choose to spend their time here.”
Part of Hunstanton’s holiday heritage
Tourism has long been an important part of Hunstanton’s identity, bringing visitors to the town’s beaches, attractions, shops and businesses.
Family-run holiday parks such as Searles have played their part in that story, helping generations of holidaymakers discover the Norfolk coast and creating lasting connections with the area.
The move from Gold to Platinum is recognition of the standards the resort has achieved, but it also reflects the work of the people behind the scenes who help make visitors feel welcome.
And after more than seven decades of holidays, happy memories and returning guests, Searles has shown that there’s still room to reach new heights.
For a resort that started with caravan pitches back in 1954, reaching Platinum status is certainly something worth celebrating.
