Could you walk over fire for a good cause?
Last year, 151 people walked barefoot across glowing embers in King’s Lynn and raised more than £33,000 for local charities. Now the challenge is back, and organisers are looking for another group of brave West Norfolk feet.
Norfolk’s Biggest Multi-Charity Firewalk returns to Alive Lynnsport on Friday, October 2, following a remarkable first event last year.
Organised by King’s Lynn Priory Satellite Rotary Club, the 2025 firewalk saw 151 people take on the challenge, raising more than £33,000 between them for 18 local charities.
This time, organisers are hoping to add at least another £20,000 to that total.
And if the thought of walking barefoot across a bed of glowing hot embers sounds slightly terrifying, that is rather the point.
Participants receive full training from Charity Firewalks before taking those few memorable steps across the coals at the Lynnsport running track.
You don't need to be an experienced fundraiser, or even particularly fearless, to get involved.
People can sign up individually, persuade a few friends to join them or put together a team from work. Charities can also register and encourage their own supporters to take part and raise money on their behalf.
For West Norfolk businesses, it offers a team-building exercise rather different from the usual away day, with the added benefit of raising money for a local cause at the same time.
But you certainly don't have to walk across fire to enjoy the evening.
Spectators are being encouraged to come along and cheer on those who do.
Before the main event, two fire performers will provide an appropriately fiery start to proceedings, while local businesses will have stalls offering crafts, food and other products.
Entry for spectators is just £1, with children under 12 admitted free, making it an inexpensive family evening out while supporting charities from across the area.
For King’s Lynn Priory Satellite Rotary Club, last year's event showed just how much can be achieved when local people, businesses and charities get behind the same idea.
More than £33,000 raised in one evening was quite an achievement. More importantly, that money went to 18 different charities, allowing individual firewalkers to support causes which meant something personally to them.
Now the challenge is to do it all again.
Whether that means braving the embers yourself, convincing your colleagues to form a team, raising money for a charity close to your heart or simply turning up with the family and giving the walkers some encouragement, there is a way to be involved.
